The Personable Tortoises On Curieuse Island

There's something about tortoises that just makes them lovable. The ones found at Curieuse Island are huge in both size and personality. They love having their heads rubbed by the curious tourists.

This is such a one of a kind experience because there aren't a lot of populations of large tortoises left in the world so visiting an island that's filled with them, plus having the opportunity to interact with them, is a rare treat. If you just can't get enough of turtles of all sizes, consider going snorkeling around Bird Island or Praslin Island. Turtles tend to hang around here and, both hawksbill and green turtles, like to swim around in the clear waters.

Seychelles is filled with many different types of birds. A rare sight to see is the black parrot on Praslin. Despite the name, the parrots are actually brown in color. Praslin island features the Vallee de Mai Unesco World Heritage site and the island is the only known place in the world where these birds can be found. They can often be spotted in the coco de mer trees. These trees are the home to other animals as well like the coco de mer snail and the bronze-eye gecko. For more bird experiences head to Bird Island or La Digue where Madagascar birds will eat out of your hand.

Sea Life Around Any Of The Islands

No matter which island you want to visit, you can find a variety of sea life. A great way to see it is by scuba diving. There are numerous places to teach tourists how to dive such as the Octopus Dive School. Animals often seen here are seahorses, stingrays and colorful fish. If scuba diving just isn't your thing, you can also see a lot of the animals that hang out at the surface by snorkeling. Because of the abundance of animals here, and the water being so clear, it's not hard to see a lot of sea life just by going a few inches under the water.
